The public art installation “Heart of the Fountainhead” (Heart of the Fountainhead) at Taipei Shuiyuan Market has been a landmark for over 14 years. Due to prolonged exposure to sunlight and rain, the exterior walls of the Shuiyuan Building had faded and become stained.

To preserve the overall aesthetic and artistic quality of the work, the “Shuiyuan Market Public Art – Heart of the Fountainhead Optimization Plan” was carried out in 2024–2025. The project involved a redesign proposal by the original artist, Yaacov Agam, with implementation executed by Blue Dragon Art Company.

The optimization plan aims to reinvigorate the Shuiyuan Building as an urban art landmark, while serving as a model case for the preservation, continuation, and sustainable renewal of public art as cultural heritage.

The optimization work has been completed, and the refreshed façade of Shuiyuan Building is expected to bring new vitality to the Gongguan commercial district.
