The featured school in this project is an educational institution that also carries the responsibility of serving as a center for community and social education. Through the creation of public art, the project aims to inspire the seeds of artistic awareness and allow artistic values to spread into the daily lives of nearby residents. In doing so, it seeks to enhance the public’s appreciation for the aesthetics of their living environment. This public art project adopts an open call approach to select suitable artists or artist teams to carry out the artworks. The goal is to spark shared experiences within the school community, generate new values, and foster a sense of psychological identification—thereby deepening the true value of public art. Only through the continual sprouting and growth of artistic seeds can the broader artistic environment gain greater respect and nourishment.

Title: Rising Light over Wanxing · A Thousand Shoots in Bloom
Number of Works: Six pieces

These public artworks are integrated with the existing campus architecture to create a new artistic environment at Wanxing. Within this space, children receive care, love, and inclusiveness from their teachers, acquire knowledge, and are nurtured and supported. Like plants in nature, they are then able to display incomparable vitality, radiating the joy and happiness of growth.

Rising Light over Wanxing · A Thousand Shoots in Bloom embodies Wanxing’s philosophy of holistic education. A radiant, seven-colored sun casts its warm light over the “Sapling Landmark” and the “Thousand Seeds Gate,” allowing every young seedling to feel the pulse of life within a nurturing campus environment. In harmony with their surroundings, they sing songs of life and compose their own melodies of growth and joy.

The four stages of a frog’s growth, depicted as seen in an ecological pond, convey the distinct characteristics of different stages of life. The frame functions like the edge of a sheet of paper. Depending on the viewer’s height and angle, the relationship between the frame and the form changes, creating diverse visual experiences. Observing the frog from different perspectives allows viewers to understand that objects in space can take on many possibilities and forms.

Water is a fundamental substance essential to life in nature. Learning Through Play: Love uses the inherent colors and qualities of materials to express water’s crystal-clear transparency and captivating nature.

On a “horizontal plane” formed by plastic cords, silhouettes of various animals are arranged to illustrate the close relationship between water and living creatures. This plane, composed of transparent resin and plastic cords, features animal silhouettes commonly encountered in the curriculum. The word “LOVE,” formed through linear elements, conveys the key educational value of natural science education—love.

Installed on the connecting skybridge of Wanxing, this work offers children an experience of a dreamlike transitional space. Through the image of a magician’s hands, it creates a magical process of transformation, highlighting the relationship between light and shadow as they shift into vibrant colors.

Using the principle of shadow deformation, the work emphasizes the idea that hands—symbolizing limitless creativity—can give rise to countless magical effects.
