This series of public artworks establishes the identity and atmosphere of the park as a technology-art town, with each piece contributing to three key experiences:

Fu (氛): The park’s unique ambiance, conveyed through stylistic and site-specific works.

Fun (趣): Spatial variations and playful design elements that surprise and delight visitors.

Future (未來): Artistic interpretations of the park’s significance in the local economy, fostering identity and spirit.

Together, these works lay the foundation for a vibrant technological-artistic community, highlighting Kaohsiung Park’s cultural and artistic role within Greater Kaohsiung.

 

Featured Artworks

1. Gene No. “35”
Artists: Huang Yu-Jung & Lo Hsin-Chang
This piece takes the egg as a central motif, referencing both local produce (tomatoes, cauliflower, eggs) and the park’s “Three Lives” development goals (production, living, ecology). The cracked eggshell reveals a side-profile face, symbolizing humanistic care and the birth of wisdom, reflecting the human-centered spirit behind biotechnology and medical device industries.

 

 

2. QR SCREW
Artists: Chia-ling Kuo & Pei-yu Lai
A fusion of digital imagery and future technology, combining QR codes and screws. Visitors can scan the code to connect to the Southern Taiwan Science Park online, bridging physical and digital space. The screw symbolizes the steadfast power of technology professionals, transforming a small precision object into a grand visual metaphor for global impact.

 

 

3. Great Day (熊好的日子)
Artists: Huang Pei-Chi & Shi Cheng-Ze
A reflection on ecological balance and sustainability, envisioning a harmonious world where humans and nature coexist. Through the dual lens of art and technology, the work invites visitors to share in the aspiration for a “great day” where both wildlife and humans thrive together.

 

 

4. Mirror Observation (鏡觀)
Artist: Zhang Ke-Yu
A sculpture of double elliptical mirrors that absorbs the surrounding environment, reflecting passing pedestrians on one side and the sky on the other. The work mediates between inside and outside, offering visitors a contemplative encounter with nature.

5. Blue Magpie (藍鵲)
Artist/Designer Team: Yang Wei-Lin, Jiang Le-Jing, Shi Zhong-Xian, Chen Guan-Fan, Dong Yi-Lun
A bird-inspired structure using membrane surfaces for wings and tail, with a steel skeletal frame, creating a vibrant symbol within the park.

6. Together (結伴)
Artists: Li Guan-Yi & Lin Huan-Ting
Designed to enhance wayfinding and park identity, this playful and colorful large-scale directional sculpture transforms ordinary signs into lively markers. The concept of “together” also embodies unity and collaboration in Taiwan’s tech industry.

7. Timeless Memories (空間記憶)
Artists: Cathryn Chang & Erick Lin
Captures the ever-changing yet cherished history of the park—from farmland to industrial hub. By integrating regional landscape concepts, the work preserves beautiful memories and encourages community interaction with the park.

8. Click – Gearing Up! (點靈感.轉創意)
Artist: Lin Hsin-Chang
Inspired by a computer mouse, this sculpture extends into interlocking mechanical gears, symbolizing the diverse technological developments in the park. The rotating gears also metaphorically connect past industry with future innovation, creating a landmark with spiritual significance.

9. Lucky Ducklings (鴨到寶)
Artists: Ling Chun Yeh & Andy C.N. Lin
A mother duck with ducklings installation conveying warmth, continuity, and sustainability. Visitors can interact, rest, and enjoy the friendly artwork.

10. Spring Wind Revives (春風吹又生)
Artist: Liang Ren-Hong
Inspired by Bai Juyi’s poem “Wildfire cannot destroy, spring wind revives,” this work symbolizes resilience and rejuvenation, particularly in orthopedic technology, enabling patients to regain mobility and quality of life.

Artist: Tsai Ken
Celebrates the vibrancy of life through optical and color technologies, enhancing the emotional and aesthetic richness of daily life.
