Faced with the inherent multiplicity of printmaking and its groundbreaking intersection with contemporary digital technology, the potential transformations of printmaking have become a significant topic in art history. To engage audiences of all ages and from diverse fields in discussion, learning, and exchange of ideas, the “Transfer・Transmission” theme was chosen for a series of educational outreach activities accompanying the 13th International Print Biennial of the Republic of China, held across northern, central, southern, and eastern Taiwan. These activities aimed to foster public discussion and understanding of printmaking.
Objectives and Strategies:
- Tradition and Innovation: Explore how the multiplicity inherent in printmaking intersects with digital technology, using diverse educational formats to promote the understanding and appreciation of print art.
- International Perspective: Highlight the international print works selected for this biennial and discuss global trends in contemporary printmaking.
- Artist Exchange: Facilitate dialogue and collaboration between participating international artists and local artists in each region, including exchanges in printmaking techniques and teaching.
- Integration with Educational and Community Resources: Partner with local universities’ art departments, community education centers, cultural bureaus, and other academic or community organizations to strengthen collaborations between museums, schools, and the wider public.
- Target Audience: Beyond professional seminars and research activities, the program aims to serve diverse age groups and provide the general public with insights into the principles of printmaking and the unique features of this biennial exhibition.
