This exhibition, themed around “藝象繁星,” plans four thematic sections through a timeline and generational context, fully showcasing Lee Chun-shan’s artistic ideas and the creative brilliance of his students inspired by them:
🔴Taiwanese modern painting mentor Lee Chun-shan
🟠Lee Chun-shan’s first-generation Disciples art shines brightly
🔵Lee Chun-shan’s Disciples Diverse and Rich in Art Development – Entered the Studio before 1971
🟡Lee Chun-shan’s Disciples Diverse and Rich in Art Development – Entered the Studio after 1971 This exhibition brings together 42 works by Lee Chun-shan—including oil paintings, watercolours, drawings, and rare manuscripts—alongside one work each by 47 of his students, for a total of 89 pieces. Ranging from the renowned “Eight Bandits” to artists of successive generations across northern, central, and southern Taiwan, the presentation traces a vital lineage, offering a comprehensive view of the development of postwar Taiwanese art.A dedicated section of the exhibition reconstructs Lee’s much-celebrated one-on-one café pedagogy. Through archival imagery and a carefully evoked spatial atmosphere, visitors are invited to enter the intimate setting in which Lee met his students—engaging them in searching conversations and rigorous exchanges of ideas. More than a mode of instruction, this dialogical practice became a generative force, whose intellectual and spiritual resonance continues to shape Taiwan’s artistic landscape across time.
