2024 Taoyuan Land Art Festival ventures into Guishan District this year, organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs of Taoyuan City and curated by Blue Dragon Art Company. The festival brings together 10 artists from Taiwan, Japan, France, Italy, and Portugal, presenting a series of compelling land art installations at key locations across Shang-Guishan, including the Taoyuan Sake Brewery, Taoyuan Chang Gung Bus Terminal, Taoyuan Airport MRT A8 and A7 stations, and National Taiwan Sport University.
The participating artists seamlessly integrate their works into the everyday landscapes and rhythms of Guishan, drawing from local stories and community characteristics. Centered around the theme “Return to Guishan” (迴龜), the concept plays on the dual meanings of the Chinese characters:
- 迴echoes the undulating hills of Guishan, whose valleys and dips hold the echoes of local memory.
- 龜 homophonous with “return” (歸), suggests gathering and convergence—just as valleys naturally attract settlements and communities.
Through these land art creations, the festival metaphorically bridges the valleys of Guishan, forming a new kind of “Valley Settlement of Art”, where place, people, and creativity converge.
