Description:
Inspired by the surrounding physical context of its planned location (the garden in front of Dormitory II of the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology) and based on the interactive concept already tested on one of our previous works (Vira-Lata),
“ CATERPILLY ”plays with the idea of an insect, in its larval state, that has been blown-up in scale and can be appropriated and interacted with by people in a ludic way.

Constituted by a scaffolding structural skeleton it comprises an elevated walkway, that starts with a stair in the back and finishes with a slide in the front, mimicking a tongue. The “skin” is made of a series of cylindrical elements which can be individu¬ally rotated and work as an analogical pixel screen that can convey written or drawn messages by way of a binary colored scheme.
