Love Puff

[ Silver Award ]

In the farmlands of Sanshing, pigs are important partners no matter being livestock or being a source of incomes. The general image of piggies is cute and round. Love Puff applies a comforter to express the soft and comfortable feelings. It plays the characters of both a riding toy and a children chair. Children could twist the tail to withdraw the comforter which plays as a seat’s cushion. It ingeniously makes the space of the chair become a storage space for your comforter. The natural materials are applied like wood and organic cotton which makes children feel like playing in Yilan’s fields to experience the nature and play safely.

The stream is upward which forms the stool and like whale’s spraying. The water streams form the surface of stool, and it supports kid’s weight. After the child has grown up who is too heavy to sit on the stool, the stream could be downward to form a flower vase. We have materialized water streams into real forms and the forms could be changed into different looks. The streams represent the rain of Yilan which irrigates crops and plants and the process is like the cultivation of children’s growth. A kid’s stool is transformed into a flower case. Cherishing every item they have, the characteristic of Yilan’s people has been transplanted into the product. In the different surroundings, the life of the item could be extended like a running stream.

Due to the wonderful springs, Taiwanese people recognize that Yilan is the homeland of springs. The core concept of this creation is collecting Yilan’s elements from the general image of Yilan: wonderful landscapes and wonderful springs. So we design the form of the chair as a cypress bathtub. It creates an interesting atmosphere like enjoying a hot spring when a child is sitting on it. The form of the cushion has been inspired by the waving of water which expresses the rhythm of water waves. In addition, the Turtle Island shaped pillow and the supplementary 4 cushions make children adjust the height of cushions by their preferences. They can also share their cushions when friends visit their houses.

Rocking Ramune

[ Judges’ Choice ]

Yilan is the origin of Taiwanese Ramune soda which has been introduced into Taiwan in Japanese colonial period. It became a fade in Yilan due to the characteristic which combined thelocal specialty, Su-ao Cold Spring. Even though the Ramunefactory has been moved, the childhood memory of Ramuneis still deeply linked with Yilan. The most interesting thing for children is rocking the marble in the bottle while they are drinking a Ramune. So the stool combines “shaking” and “pressing” actions of drinking a Ramune. The interactions between bells and children make itself become a funny and melodious children’s stool.

船憶 Creek Culture

Creek Culture

[ Judges’ Choice ]

The Little River Culture is the culture which is developed by Han people and Kavalan people who lives near Dongshan River and its tributaries. Ah-bo boats were the main tool for shipping materials and herding ducks in old days. There was a common saying in Yilan: “No bicycle would be fine, but no Ah-bo boat wouldn’t.” Based on the sentence, we can image the importance and distinctness of Ah-bo boats. The main structure is based on the general shape of the bow of Ah-bo boats and the streamline is extended to form the back. We also challenge the limit of craftsmanship of woodcraft. We use the simple form for setting off the boat’s shape. It makes our Ah-bo boat memory express a stable and calm feeling.
